A-G Sod Farms recently partnered with Rain Bird, Santa Margarita Water District and other greens industry vendors to provide a water-saving landscape renovation for Community Lutheran Church. See this video for visuals and interviews on the project:
Like many landscapes, Community Lutheran Church’s irrigation system was inefficient due to lack of lawn maintenance and age of the system. They were using over 1 million gallons of water annually and still not attaining plant health throughout their landscape.
Rain Bird spear-headed the project, providing irrigation upgrades including new water efficient heads, drip irrigation, and a weather-based irrigation controller. A-G Sod Farm’s role was to provide Hybrid Bermuda grass overseeded with a Bluegrass-Ryegrass mixture – what we call our Ball Park mix. One of the turf areas is being irrigated with underground drip irrigation.
This project emphasizes that:
- The power of teamwork!!
- Regular irrigation maintenance is the most important factor in saving water
- Turf can be a part of sustainable, water-conservative landscapes
